Gen Con is this week, so what better way to kick off my renewed blog than to post where you can find me if you'll be there as well?
IGDN Social: 6 - 9 PM
The IGDN Social is a chance to meet game designers and talk shop before the con begins. There will be themed drink specials, and it promises to be a lot of fun. It's at Loughmiller's.
This is the big ConTessa day, so I'll be either at an event or taking a break before the next one. You can find the whole schedule here, and make sure to drop by both our Opening Ceremonies & our Game Night. There will be over 20 women running games in one room, and although most of the games are full, there's a few spots still open.
ConTessa Opening Ceremonies: 11 - 12 PM
Join us as we open up a day of ConTessa events with a keynote address byMargaret Weis of Margaret Weis Productions, and additional words on ConTessa by ConTessa Founder Stacy Dellorfano, and Women in Leadership in Games by Shanna Germain of Monte Cook Games.
While we're there, we'll also be giving our volunteer GMs their gift bags as well as giving out ConTessa swag in the form of lanyards, buttons, and badge ribbons. Come meet some awesome people as we kick off a great day of events!
How I Designed It: 1 - 2 PM
Crowne Plaza Indianapolis : Victoria Station C/D
We'll talk to Sarah Richardson, Elsa Henry, and Shanna Germain about their creative process, what steps they've went through in designing their games, what their stumbling points were, and what kind of advice they have for new designers. We'll also be taking audience questions!
Crowne Plaza : Grand Central Ballroom A/B
Join us for an in-depth discussion on how to adapt your favorite fandoms from TV, comics, & movies to tabletop role playing games for your home group!
We will be focusing on the many flavors of Apocalypse World hacks for the mechanics, but we may touch lightly on a few other systems. Make sure to bring questions of your own!
Palace of the Silver Princess: 6 - 10 PM
Indiana Convention Center : 123--124
"Not long ago, the valley was green and animals ran free through golden fields of grain. The Princess Argenta ruled over this peaceful land and the people were secure and happy. Then one day, a warrior riding a white dragon appeared in the skies over the castle, and almost overnight the tiny kingdom fell into ruin. Now only ruins and rumors remain, and what legends there are tell of a fabulous treasure still buried somewhere within the Palace of the Silver Princess."
Play in the very first D&D adventure written by a woman! This adventure was redone based on its artwork and some content, but I'll be running players through the original version.
I'll be beginning and ending this day by running more games in the IGDN room. It's in the Marriott ballroom 7, on the second floor. You can also check out our booth. It's #734.
WITCH: The Haunting of Ash Court: 9 -1 PM
WITCH is a modern, dark fantasy role playing game where you are a member of the Fated, a witch or warlock who has sold their soul to a demon for power. As one of the Fated you must deal with the eternal battle raging within you, between the light and the dark, between the fantastic world you have just discovered and the loss of your soul. In this short adventure for WITCH, "The Haunting of Ash Court', you will investigate the possession of a young boy caught in the grasp of a creature from another world.
Bluebeard's Bride: 8-12 AM
You are a new bride and your husband has left you alone in your new home while he attends to urgent business. Can you resist the seductive and dreadful mystery that lies behind the locked door?
Saturday and Sunday are reserved for actually playing games (whoohoo Eclipse Phase and Torchbearer), roaming the exhibit hall, and doing press stuff for Women Write About Comics. Then I'll be home again, only to join the convention carousel again when I head off for NecronomiCon for this little book.
